Piazza di Spagna is a Roman paradise island, and one of the most famous and majestic examples of the Roman Baroque style, inspiring artists and attracting thousands of tourists each day. You can enjoy the fantastic view of the Barcaccia, depicting the baroque boat of Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The boat was not his private yacht, it was especially made to commemorate the many people who died from the Roman floods of the Tiber river over the centuries. The Spanish Square is also famous for being one of the chicest areas in Rome and just next to it is Via dei Condotti which is the equivalent of Sloane Street for London and Rue de Saint Honorè for Paris, where you can find luxurious stores like Gucci, Valentino, Church’s, Bulgari , Fendi, Prada and, last but not least, the very famous Caffè Greco, the café which artists like Shelley and Keats visited during the Grand tour. Piazza di Spagna owes its name to the Spanish embassy to the Holy See, which is located in the square. After all these years, the Spanish Square maintains its unique character and charm with its colourful shops and palaces making your visit an unforgettable experience. This bold piece of architecture creates a spectacular path from the square to the Trinità Church above and the Piazza di Spagna remains one of the most un-missable sights in the city. Very nearby there is also the prestigious Hotel de Russie, one of the most luxurious hotels of the city, also well known for its Spa Center and for its cuisine. The hotel de Russie is linked to the square by Via del Babuino, an important roman road because it is home to many art galleries and antiques stores like Richard Ginori, the Italian equivalent of Wedgwood.
